This birds are usually found in the shrub areas near cultivated lands. They were earlier called Grey Partridges. The local Indian name is Teetar based on the kind of calls these birds make. During early morning or after a rainy time when the land becomes wet they roost on the thick boughs of the trees. Their scientific name is Francolinus pondicerianus.
