Oriental Pratincole (Glareola maldivarum)  in the non breeding plumage. Picture taken by me in Derabassi Punjab. It is also called Grasshopper Bird or Swallow Plover. It breeds here in summers in the Paddy fields

My name is Ranjit Singh. I was born in 1953. I did my M.Sc. in Chemistry from Panjab University in 1975. I joined India's Premier E&P Industry called ONGC in 1978. I rose to the rank of DGM at the time of retirement in 2013 after working for 35 years. During my stint I worked in analytical chemistry labs, Oil Rigs drilling and Production.
